Exploring the Crime Scene
In this post learn about navigating the crime scene, finding and collecting evidence, and the evidence tent cards.
Navigating the Crime Scene
There are three ways to navigate from place to place in the crime scene. First, there are arrow icons which you can click on. These typically take in a linear path from room to room or from place to place within a room. During these moves a short video plays showing you the path being travelled. These videos can be skipped by clicking anywhere on the video while they are playing. The second way to get around is to use the drop down menu in the upper right above the crime scene. This will show you the name of your current position as well as allowing you select any other location from a list of options. The final way to traverse the crime scene is to use the map. You can open the map by clicking the button with the map icon in the upper right above the crime scene. When the map is open, each location is indicated by a triangular marker. Clicking on any marker will move you to that location. The marker for your current position is colored green, while the other markers will be red.
Finding and Collecting Evidence
The magnifier tool is present as soon as you get to the crime scene. The triangular shape coming off one corner of the magnifier tool indicates the point being examined. You can click/tap and drag to move the magnifier around the scene or you can click/tap anywhere on the crime scene to move the magnifier there instantly.
Some evidence is clearly visible like blood or footprints, other evidence is invisible to the naked eye like fingerprints. In order to help you find these items, the magnifier will let you know when you are getting closer or further from an item. A circular meter around the perimeter of the magnifier will fill up and turn green the closer you are to an item and will empty out and turn red the further you are from an item. If the meter is completely empty there is no evidence nearby.
When you do find a piece of evidence the meter will be green and completely full and will also shake to let you know. An Examine button will appear in the bottom center of the crime scene. Clicking this button will take you to examination mode. When in examination mode you will be presented with a series of relevant tools to use in order to collect the evidence item. Once each tool has been used the evidence will be marked as collected and added to your evidence log.
Evidence Tent Cards

Once you find and capture a piece of evidence in the classroom scene, it will be marked by an evidence tent card with its Evidence ID number on it. These markers can be toggled on and off using the button in the button with the tent card icon located in crime scene toolbar in upper right corner. Clicking on a tent card in the crime scene will take you to that evidence item in the evidence log.
